Transportation opens the door to social, educational, and employment opportunities. But for women who lack access to reliable, affordable options, these opportunities are too often out of reach.

Horizons in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is working to make transportation more accessible and convenient for working mothers without a car, empowering them to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. As a part of its Neighborhood Transportation Services (NTS) program, Childcare Rides offers scheduled rides to and from work, complete with stops at their preferred childcare provider.

Horizons will receive a $20,000 grant from the Aura Cacia Positive Change Project in 2023 to support 50 working mothers through Childcare Rides.
