Enhance Your Travel with Aromatherapy

Body

As I anticipate a return to more travel...

I am reminded of the many gifts I find in traveling with essential oils.  One of the best things about them is that they are tiny and travel so well! It’s not hard to bring a few along no matter where you are headed to. They even work perfectly in weekend bags and carry-ons.

If you are wondering how to make the most out of aromatherapy while you travel, I have a few favorites with tips to share below.

Lavender essential oil is well known as the most popular essential oil, and for a good reason. There are so many benefits and uses for this oil.

  • Travel itself can really test our nerves so to help keep calm, bring along a roll-on filled with a few drops of lavender when you start to feel uneasy.
  • Sleeping in a new place can throw off your sleep routine so to help, sprinkle a few drops right on the sheets and pillows before turning in for the night.
  • Too much sun? Add some lavender to your aloe and you will feel that soothing relief on your skin instantly.
  • If you’re going out for a walk in the evening or into the woods, make an easy outdoor body oil using 1 oz of coconut oil with 12 drops of lavender to smooth over exposed skin.

Tea tree is my peace of mind protection when I’m on the go.

  • Before I take a shower or bath in my hotel or Airbnb I always drop some tea tree and give it a good wipe down. I’ll usually do the same on the high traffic surfaces like nightstands and tables as well.
  • If you get more congestion like me when you travel, take a steamy shower and add some tea tree to the steam to breathe in and help clear you right up. Even a quick waft of the bottle under your nose helps.
  • Cuts or scrapes seem to occur more when you’re on the go, so keep the tea tree close for when those accidents happen.

Rose Absolute (pre-blended in jojoba) is one of my unique must have travel oils. It's dilution makes it ready to go right out of the bottle; no need to pack a carrier oil.

  • It makes a great face serum on its own. Shake out several drops right onto your palms and smooth onto face and neck in the morning.
  • Use it as a deodorant, you can even add a drop of tea tree to stay extra fresh.
  • After using hand sanitizer to stay safe, shake out a few drops onto hands to help prevent dry hands. Plus the lovely smell of rose helps with feeling a little more joyful in your day.
  • Lastly, of course it makes the best perfume. What is better than smelling like a fresh blooming summer rose?

Enjoy your travels!
