Slow Food
Slow Food Berkeley is one of over 210 Slow Food chapters in the U.S. The national office, Slow Food USA, is in Brooklyn, NY.
Slow Food was founded in Italy in 1986 when Carlo Petrini and a merry cadre of leftist activists organized a protest against the opening of a McDonald's in Rome. Grandmothers cooked up bowls of their family's pasta and flung spoonfuls at the golden arches. Today, Slow Food has over 85,000 members in 132 countries.
