Calvary Women's Services
When women in Washington D.C. experience the traumatic and long-lasting effects of homelessness, Calvary Women’s Services empowers them to transform their lives through housing, health, and job placement assistance.
One of their programs, Step Up DC, offers one-on-one assistance to help participants build their resumes, acquire new skills, and gain financial security through stable employment. Since the program’s inception, Step Up DC participants have secured jobs in a range of fields, from IT support to hospitality.
Calvary Women’s Services will receive a $25,000 grant from the Aura Cacia Positive Change Project in 2023 to help Step Up DC transform the lives of 75 women in the Washington D.C. area.
“Women come to Calvary Women’s Services to transform their lives, and thanks to the Aura Cacia Positive Change Project, they can. The Positive Change Project ensures that women experiencing homelessness in DC have the resources and personalized support they need build stronger futures. Last year nearly 80% of the women in Calvary’s employment program gained stable employment thanks to Aura Cacia’s investment.” – Kris Thompson, CEO, Calvary Women’s Services
